Like the environment grows strong timber,
we set down strong foundations for growth into the future.
Like the Kowhai, we continue to grow academically, socially, culturally and through sport.
Like the Kereru, we confidently seek out the branch that grows the best fruit.
Elsthorpe is a rural school situated in an incredibly beautiful bush setting. We have a proud history of over 120 years and provide numerous unique learning opportunities for all our children from new entrants to Year 8.
We nurture the development of all our learners by building a partnership with our families to get to know the whole child, and how they learn best.
We are a PB4L school who promote a positive attitude to learning and life through our values of BRAVERY, RESPECT, TOGETHERNESS and RESPONSIBILTY!

Kia ora parents and whānau,
There are only 26 school days left in the year. As we approach the end of term, our focus is on finishing positively and preparing for a strong start to next year.
At Elsthorpe School, our four values, Respect, Responsibility, Bravery, and Togetherness, guide everything we do. They shape our classrooms, our culture, and how we treat one another. We know this time of year can be challenging, with the excitement of Christmas approaching and new opportunities on the horizon for our Year 8 students. However, it is important that we continue to uphold our school values in all settings.
As a PB4L school, we believe in modelling and promoting positive behaviour. When behaviour does not meet expectations, we use restorative practice to work through issues respectfully and fairly. Our PB4L behaviour forms are completed by the referring teacher with input from the student and those involved, helping everyone find an appropriate resolution.
With many exciting activities planned for the final weeks, students who receive a PB4L form may miss out on some events if their behaviour does not align with our values. As a staff, we commit to contacting you if your child receives a form, so you are aware and can support them to make positive choices moving forward.
All whānau are reminded that your child’s teacher is the first point of contact for all in-class issues.
Ngā mihi,
Tim Waite
