Like the environment grows strong timber,
we set down strong foundations for growth into the future.
Like the Kowhai, we continue to grow academically, socially, culturally and through sport.
Like the Kereru, we confidently seek out the branch that grows the best fruit.
Elsthorpe is a rural school situated in an incredibly beautiful bush setting. We have a proud history of over 120 years and provide numerous unique learning opportunities for all our children from new entrants to Year 8.
We nurture the development of all our learners by building a partnership with our families to get to know the whole child, and how they learn best.
We are a PB4L school who promote a positive attitude to learning and life through our values of BRAVERY, RESPECT, TOGETHERNESS and RESPONSIBILTY!

Kia ora everyone,
Tomorrow’s assembly will begin slightly earlier than usual, starting at 2:20pm.
Along with our end of term certificates, we will also be taking the opportunity to farewell Mr Waite and thank him for his contribution to our school.
We look forward to seeing you there.
LOCKDOWN DRILL: This is a practice lockdown drill. The school is currently practising its emergency procedures and communication systems.
Please do not come to the school site during the drill, as access will be restricted while procedures are being followed. We also ask that you do not phone the school during the drill, as phone lines need to be kept clear for emergency communications and personnel if required.
A further message will be sent when the drill has been completed. Thank you for your support.
LOCKDOWN DRILL COMPLETE: Our practice lockdown drill has now concluded and normal school operations have resumed.
Thank you for your support as we continue to review and strengthen our emergency procedures.
Kia ora,
On Monday 29th June, students will receive their end of term PB4L reward by having the option to watch movie for the afternoon. Students will be able to choose from Free Willy or Dr. Seuss' The Cat in the Hat and Peter Rabbit.
If you do not wish for your child to watch a movie, please let the classroom teacher know.
Kind regards,
Elsthorpe School staff
Kia ora whānau,
We are booked and ready to head to Wellington from September 15th–18th for our Senior Camp. Highlights and activities already booked include Parliament, Wellington Zoo, Te Papa, and of course, the obligatory train and tram rides. We will be staying at the Silverstream Retreat.
I am aiming to make this trip as exciting and memorable as possible for the students, so I have also planned a few additional activities if time allows. It should be an awesome opportunity for the students to experience new places, build independence, and create lasting memories together.
What happens from here:
The fundraising options (provided by the students) are
Obviously, one large fundraiser or several smaller fundraisers will all help us achieve the same goal. Please feel free to use our Senior Room Whānau Messenger group to suggest ideas, offer support, or put your hand up to help lead a particular fundraiser or project.
To help kick things off, I will send pinecone bags home for the children to fill. Once they are full, please return them to school, and I will advertise and sell them through Facebook Marketplace. Townies seem to go crazy for pinecones! If you are unlikely to fill them, please tell your child not to take the bags.
I have also pencilled in a Mufti Day for June 25th. The students and I will look to run a lunch fundraiser alongside this as well.
Ngā mihi,
Tim Waite
